Scene 1: Rage
The opening scene from 28 Days Later shows how the Rage virus came to be released on the human population.
This clip begins with a disjointed series of gritty newsreels, but eventually the camera widens out to reveal that the reels are playing on loop in the Cambridge Primate Research Center. In the Research Center, we see chimps caged and angry and a single chimp strapped down being forced to watch the violent news footage. Animal-rights activists arrive to free the tortured chimps, and all Rage breaks loose. At this point it is unclear how the Rage virus was developed, but the results are undeniable. Within seconds of being infected, the female activist becomes a vicious killer.
Particularly chilling here is the film's suggestion that the Rage virus is brought about by man's violence against man. We all contain this horrifying potential, though we ordinarily don't see the concentrated viral Rage emerge.

[TIP: When using page layouts like this one, with lots of pictures along the sides or top or bottom of the page, make sure your captions are informative, yet brief! Or at least of similar length. As you can see here, when one caption is longer than others, the layout will automatically leave space, making the photo spread uneven and less visually pleasing. Aim for your photo/caption layout to look like the one on the next page.]
